The New Living Will

Whether you were for or against the final pulling of the plug for Terri Schiavo, you have to admit that this Living Will below is a bit funny to read. This was sent to me by some officers of a criminal justice organization that I am a member of.

LIVING WILL

I, _________________________ (fill in the blank), being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means.

Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of peckerwood ethically challenged politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their lives depended on it.

If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to sit up and ask for a cold beer, glass of wine, etc. ( substitute your choice), it should be presumed that I won't ever get better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my spouse, children and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes and call it a day.

Under no circumstances shall the hypocritical members of the Legislature (State or Federal) enact a special law to keep me on life-support machinery. It is my wish that these boneheads mind their own damn business, and pay attention instead to the health, education and future of the millions of Americans who aren't in a permanent coma.

Under no circumstances shall any politicians butt into this case.

I don't care how many fundamentalist votes they're trying to scrounge for their run for the presidency, it is my wish that they play politics with someone else's life and leave me alone to die in peace.

I couldn't care less if a hundred religious zealots send e-mails to legislators in which they pretend to care about me. I don't know these people, and I certainly haven't authorized them to preach and crusade on my behalf. They should mind their own business, too.

If any of my family goes against my wishes and turns my case into a political cause, I hereby promise to come back from the grave and make his or her existence a living hell.

What is Your Feng Shui?

Feng Shui, as defined by Feng Shui Creations basically envelops around a harmonious pathway. This has become an increasing popular terminology that has everyone hopping around to make their lives and homes more harmonious. To me, it seems it follows the Bauhaus theory of "Less is More" and a means of declutterizing our lives. We can learn much from this as we move towards a Spring Cleaning mode in our homes.

A friend of mine has also put forth an article on this art of harmonious living, Five Guidelines for Your Well-Being, which also stems from the book of the same title by Jon Sandifer. Definately, worth checking out the article, as well as the book.

Don't know about you...but, this certainly seems inspirational as I have a 2 week break from my college courses right now. Wanna join me in finding my feng shui??? :)

The Pope - A Significant Death in History

Millions Worldwide Mourn Pope John Paul II by VICTOR L. SIMPSON
Associated Press Writer

Today, marks a significant record in history as Pope John Paul II dies at 84 years of age. He has been admired by many and has directed many opinions and edicts for catholics to follow in their faith; however, the Pope was also looked to as a resource of life altering decisions as well from non-Catholics because he was looked up to as a very wise man of the Century. His words were not politically motivated -- they were morally motivated which is a refreshing aspect when many of our leaders are worried about the effect of what they have to say appears on their record.

This Pope will certainly be missed by many...

and the future Pope will have some hard shoes to fit. Hopefully, he will chose to be himself and lead in his own manner and try not to imitate this, perhaps, grandest of Popes of all times!!

I Call Myself Crazy????

Last night a friend admitted to me that he had anxiety disorders -- at least, that is what the Navy told him that he had. :) But something that he said made sense from a mental health perspective:

"I call myself crazy because when you are a mental disorder, you use more of your brain than so-called normal people."

Which also brings us to the question of -- what is "normal"??? At any rate, it is certainly an interesting perspective when being a Mental Health Advocate, among many of my advocacies that I do.

I hope that everyone may have a very blessed day today -- whether they feel that they are a mental disorder, or not!
