New Chief Justice - Decision Maker??

I was just reading a story online, High Court Clashes Over Assisted Suicide, wherein it discusses the "New Chief Justice John Roberts stepped forward Wednesday as an aggressive defender of federal authority to block doctor-assisted suicide, as the Supreme Court clashed over an Oregon law that lets doctors help terminally ill patients end their lives".

I am encouraged by reading this story - not only because it seems that the new Chief Justice seems determined to make some long debated decisions in the Supreme Court, but also because he is concerned about the “uniformity of law” which touches on the inconsistancies of laws across this great nation.

Hopefully, the Supreme Court will actually put an end to some long waited decisions regarding various issues that have had people pulling towards both ends of the spectrums of opinions on the matters.
